Align on clear priorities and a way to adjust as the ground shifts.

SET CLEAR PRIORITIES NOW — WITHOUT WAITING ON A MONTHS-LONG PROCESS.

DEFINE A range of futures your ORGANIZATION might face.
CO-CREATE a STRATEGY that holds regardless of which ONE arrives.

FAQ
What is adaptive planning?
Traditional strategic planning builds a multi-year plan around a single projected future — which works when the environment is stable. Adaptive planning assumes several plausible futures exist, builds a strategy that holds across them, and gives you a way to spot which one is arriving and adjust as you go.
Is the Adaptive Planning Sprint right for my organization?
It’s built for nonprofit leadership teams who need a current, actionable strategy but can’t commit to a months-long process right now. It works whether your existing plan no longer fits the moment, you’ve never done formal planning, or you’re somewhere in between. Not sure? Reach out.
We already have a strategic plan. Do we still need this?
Many of the leaders we work with have solid multi-year plans (some of which we helped build) that have been disrupted by major changes in the external environment. Funding landscapes, policy environments and community needs look different than they did two or three years ago. If your plan rests on assumptions that no longer hold, we can use the Adaptive Planning Sprint to build on its foundation but evolve to meet the moment.
How is this different from a MODEL where our team does the work themselves?
Some adaptive-planning offerings are essentially structured homework: your team puts in dozens of hours each, with a coach checking in along the way. The Sprint is the opposite. A Trepwise strategist facilitates the work with you in a single half-day, then delivers the written plan. You bring the knowledge of your organization; we bring the method, the facilitation, and the strategist in the room.
How is a sprint different from a full strategic planning engagement?
A full engagement runs four to six months with extensive discovery and multiple drafts — built for organizations with the time and budget for a comprehensive process. The Sprint is fixed-scope and fast, and the two can complement each other: a Sprint can set near-term priorities before a larger planning process.
Do we need to have done strategic planning before to get value from this?
No. The Sprint works whether you have a formal planning history or you’re approaching this for the first time — the pre-planning calls meet you where you are. What matters most is a leadership team ready to engage honestly about where the organization is and where it needs to go.
